We’ve all been there, crushed under the heavy weight of worry. The unknown of what’s ahead can leave us feeling crippled. We worry about everything, don’t we? Thoughts flood our mind about our kids, our finances, our parents, our friends, our health, our job, and even silly things like what we’ll eat for lunch or whether or not we’ll be able to afford that luxury vacation this summer.
You were Created to be a Warrior, not a Worrier
Here’s the truth… The Creator of the Universe did not design a worrier when he formed you! He gave you a spirit of power, not fear. (2 Timothy 1:7) He equipped you with courage and perseverance! (Deuteronomy 31:6) He wants you to live in freedom and His goodness, not in worry!

I understand sometimes there are circumstances that leave us so ridden with worry and fear, that we don’t even know what to do next. Losing a job or facing a serious health challenge can paralyze our mind (read about “Thriving in the Midst of Physical Pain” here). However, even in these dire circumstances, you still have a warrior spirit within you. There’s nothing that God hasn’t brought you through yet. If you’re still here, still breathing, God isn’t finished with you! You are a Warrior!
The Most Powerful Warrior is the One on their Knees
Fight the good fight in the most powerful way: on your knees. God will hear you. He has a plan for your future and it is good. (Jeremiah 29:11) I love knowing that even when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit will intercede for us! (Romans 8:26) What a beautiful promise!
When my worry and anxiety become to heavy for me to carry any longer, I remember that I can give it to God. One of my all-time favorite scriptures is 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” I hit my knees and ask God to take the worry and release me from the weight of it. If I’ve committed to truly handing over the control to God, I feel a physical release in my body, like a literal weight off my shoulders. Then I shift my thoughts to things that are true, pure and good. (Philippians 4:8) That is where I find mental peace and freedom!
Friend, you were created to be a Warrior, not a Worrier. God’s got you and He’s capable of handling the smallest to the biggest concern in your life. He loves you, believes in you and wants the very best for you, his Warrior Child!
