The one thing I’ve learned over the years is the importance of relationships. You see it talked about several times throughout the Bible. We are called to cultivate meaningful relationships that help us grow. That’s why you hear me talk about your 5 tribe so often. You become most like the people you surround yourself with. So if that’s true, then shouldn’t we surround ourselves with relationships that foster growth and help us thrive?
Absolutely!
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing 5 tips that will help you improve your relationships and build and maintain those strong, powerful connections. Here’s a quick glimpse into what we’re covering:
Honor
This is something I’ll talk about over and over again because it’s so important! Put simply, honor is treating others how you want to be treated. Just imagine for a moment what the world would look like, what your relationships would look like if everyone did that?
Edify
Sis, your words hold SO much power. It says it right in Proverbs 18:21…
“The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
And again in Proverbs 12:18…
“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Let’s use our words to build others up!
Ask Thought-Provoking Questions
Asking thought-provoking, open-ended questions is such a great way to build relationships with everyone because it allows them to open up to you rather than just giving a quick yes, no, or one-word response.
Become an Expert Listener
This one is so important to building relationships. When you’re in conversation with someone, be sure that you’re genuinely listening to what they’re saying. This makes them feel seen and heard.
Learn the Art of Empathy
I describe empathy as feeling someone’s feelings with them. Allow yourself to just sit in their feelings and take them all in. One of the things I often say in these situations is “I would feel the same way”.
I’m sharing more on each of these tips on the podcast so be sure to tune in to continue learning about how to improve and build upon the relationships in your life.
