Hey sweet sisters! Today, we’re talking all about growth. If you know me, you know I’m a huge proponent of doing things that encourage growth and learning. And I know you are too, because you’re here!

So, I want to share 5 tips with you that will set you up for success on your growth journey.

First, let’s talk about comfort zones. Put simply, comfort zones are dangerous. They prevent us from experiencing growth in all areas of our lives. Think about it… have you ever done something that was totally outside of your comfort zone, something that scared you, maybe even gave you that sick feeling in your stomach even thinking about it…but you did it anyway? Do you remember how you felt when you actually took that step forward and pushed yourself outside of your comfort zone?

It’s like this huge rush of excitement because you accomplished something you didn’t think you could do. That feeling? That’s what growth is. It’s this sometimes painful process that ends up feeling so, so good. And the learning experience that comes with that growth is so powerful.

Let me give you a quick example…

For our ten year wedding anniversary, all I really wanted to do was take photos with my husband, Chad on a beach somewhere. We ended up driving from Iowa to South Carolina to make that happen. I had planned a couple of other things for the trip, one of them being a zipline activity, mainly because I knew Chad would enjoy it. So, I handed him the brochure and asked him to book it for us. Well, little did I know, there was actually a 2nd option inside that brochure, one that was way outside of what I thought I was getting myself into…the Goliath zipline, aka the biggest and baddest zipline around. And guess what…that’s the one Chad ended up booking for us. Yeah….

This zipline was 475 feet high up above the Smoky Mountains and when you go down, you’re traveling over 55 miles per hour. To say I was terrified is an understatement! As I stood up on that ledge, I kept thinking, I can’t do this! But I knew it was going to be a growth experience for me. Still feeling as if I was going to throw up, I took a deep breath and jumped off the ledge.

You guys…the feeling I had flying down that zipline was amazing. I was soaring! I felt almost as if I was suspended in time. And with the heavens above me, the mountains and the tree canopies below me, I felt so close to God and I could feel myself growing right there in that moment.

It’s moments and experiences like that, sometimes wild and crazy, sometimes painful, that help us grow.

I have a few more tips for you to help you out on your growth journey so make sure you tune into the podcast as we dive deeper into things like consistency, accountability, and more.

Sis, if you have a hungry heart and want to continue growing in all areas of your life, this one is for you. I hope these tips leave you feeling motivated to take that one next step forward into all the growth that God has in store for you! Let’s grow, girl!
